Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

It’s the homestretch of winter and I have about as much color as Frosty the Snowman. Thankfully, I have my Tarte cheek stain to keep me looking healthy and rosy and less like a corpse. But—gasp—it ran out the other day! So, I headed over to the Tarte web site to reorder and I stumbled upon their great “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” program. Did you know about this?

Besides providing us with great beauty products, Tarte is dedicated to creating customer awareness about the environment. Not only do they solve the mystery of what all those numbers on the bottom of plastic containers mean (see photo), Tarte will give you a discount off certain products when you send in your empty makeup container. For instance, I’m trading in my empty tube of cheek stain for a 10% discount. Pretty. Awesome.

Tarte also lends some creative tips on how to turn their used makeup containers into useful everyday items: a lip gloss tin turns into a travel sized pill box, an old makeup case becomes storage for your sunglasses. Nifty!

They've inspired me to find other ways to reuse my old beauty products. I'm going to try to turn my lip gloss wand into a turkey baster. I'll let you know if it works.
