Ken Baumann of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" Hearts...

Ken Baumann plays 15-year-old Ben Boykewich, the guy who's in love with teen mom Amy Juergens on ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," though he's not the baby-daddy. The character of Ben is endearing and witty and passionate, and we found out that Ken is too, just by asking him to list 5 things he hearts... 1. "The book Light Boxes by Shane Jones.  It's a beautiful story; compassionate, mythological, inspiring. One of my new favorite books. Oh, and full disclosure: Shane is a friend of mine, and wears V-neck t-shirts."

2. "Any and all music composed by Jon Brion. Check out the soundtracks to Punch Drunk Love and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I want to work with Jon in some capacity, and soon."

3. "Probably the best blog about culture & art I've seen:  Bright Stupid Confetti. Chris, the curator, also is a very nice guy.  And much, much smarter than me."

4. "Learning about a random sign every day over at www.symbols.com."

5.  "And last but not least, obsessively documenting my obsessions on Twitter."

Is that a cool list or what? I kind of want to be friends with Ken now. One other awesome thing we know about him is that he's involved with Raise Hope for Congo, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds to help end the ongoing crisis in Congo (a catastrophic war that has lasted for years and resulted in 5.4 million deaths, as well as widespread sexual violence against women and girls throughout the region--learn more here). So, you know, he's got a big heart too.

And finally, we asked Ken for a hint about the new season of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," which starts tonight at 8pm EST on ABC Family. He says, "Expect some new women in Ben's life... and I'm not going to say anything more than that." Tease!
