Postcards are handy for lots of things. You can mail them and brighten someone’s day, natch, but you can also decorate your walls or frame them as incredibly cheap art. Just until you can afford that Picasso, of course. I'm doing all three with this collection, Hi: 30 Postcards by Halifax artist Ray Fenwick ($10). In the ink-and-paint creations, there is wit, wonder and awesome illustration. Fenwick is a former improv comedian and theater school dropout, and his history shows in the best possible way.
Bonus: The set comes in a nifty tri-fold cover with extra drawings inside! Just call me an art buyer.
