Macaroons: Pretty Pieces of Paris for $10

There is something so delicate and sweet about French macarons (we call them macaroons 'round these parts). They look like glorious pastel sliders, and they're a tiny piece of Paris that I can actually afford. French Macaroons are made with almond flour, powdered sugar and egg whites (hello, marvelous meringue!), and the two sides sandwich a filling of buttercream or ganache. Mmm... Here's a good recipe if you're a culinary type.

Me? I'm purchasing these little luxuries. I suppose I could shop at Laudrée, where fancypants get their gorgeous baked goods. But I'm going with lemonadestandnyc on etsy. They charge just $10 for 6 delicious delights!

With 11 available flavors (Ready? Vanilla Ganache, Nutella Ganache, Chocolate Macarons with Bittersweet Chocolate Ganache, Coffee Buttercream, Caramel Fleur de Sel, Dulce de Leche, Cinnamon Pistachio, Honey Buttercream with Honey Macarons, Orange Buttercream, Matcha Buttercream, Milk Chocolate and Passion Fruit Ganache!), my only worry is which to choose.

Can you tell food is on my mind this week?
