Read It: "Every Rose Has Its Thorn"

I've never been into actors. Musicians are more my cup of tea, but having a romantic penchant for guitar-playing boys who are always on tour and looking for their next inspiration or muse is -- take it from me -- a one way street to heartbreak. That's why I love the book Every Rose Has Its Thorn: The Rock 'n' Roll Field Guide To Guys, written by Erin Bradley and illustrated by her sister, Heather Bradley. It's a handbook to every sort of musician there is, so you can know their MO before you start swooning.

Divided into archetypal chapters like "Bad Company," "Mannish Boy," and "Mr. Roboto," the Bradley sisters give you a detailed, funny -- yet very accurate! -- overview of every type of musician you might encounter. (PG-13 warning -- it gets a little racy!) From relationship pitfalls to predictable wooing techniques to how to dump them, every base is covered.

I giggled, groaned and nodded my head in agreement reading this passage from the "Mr. Roboto" chapter: "Genius intellectually. Idiot emotionally. Scored in the 99.9th percentile on standardized tests but hasn't scored so well with women." Spot. On.
