Now that 2011 is just around the corner (how is it December already??), I'm looking for a new diary/calendar, and I think I've found the perfect one ($45, pictured) at Rebound Books. This Melbourne, Australia-based company makes journals ($30), diaries, photo albums ($40), sketchbooks ($40) and bookmarks (5 for $20) out of old books and recycled materials. Each page is hand cut and every book is hand bound -- how's that for some DIY TLC? Especially adorable are these pocket books ($10) made from discarded library books, featuring a cut-out cover.
They use everything from old LIFE magazines to French books to Bibles and children's picture books for their goods, and it all looks awesome. Yes, it has to ship all the way from Down Under, but for a one-of-a-kind item, we think the postage is worth it!
