Paraben-Free Shampoos We Heart

I try to be pretty eco-conscious. Most of my cleaning goods and household products are environmentally friendly. However, beauty products? That's a different story. Recently, I've been veering away from my normal brands of shampoos and testing out paraben-free varieties. What are parabens? The short answer is they're chemically made preservatives that are used in personal care products; they prevent things like lotions and creams from growing bacteria and other icky things. So even though that's a plus, the downside is they may be potentially dangerous and linked to cancer. Better to be safe than sorry, right? Here are a few brands I've tested out that get the I Heart Daily seal of approval!

Super Shiny Grapefruit and Beet Sugar Shampoo, Burt's Bees ($6, sale, pictured). The name of this shampoo sounds good enough to eat, and it definitely smells that way too! I pretty much love all Burt's Bees product and this one is my go-to choice in the shower.

Pantene Nature Fusion Pure Strength Shampoo, Target ($4 each). This shampoo is crystal clear, and by that reasoning, I feel like it's healthier and better for my hair. Every time I use this, my hair is super soft and smells just-right fresh. Plus, its plant-derived container means you're helping out Mother Earth, and she loves that.

Nourishing Shampoo, Yes To Carrots ($9). My hair is super oily, and with summer impending, I'm going to depend on this bottle to keep my hair from looking like a oil slick. And it makes my hair super shiny! For real -- model-hair worthy.
