Road Test: Rimmel ScandalEyes Show Off Mascara

rimmel_mascaraTo quote myself: "This is my one beauty splurge. I’ve cheated on this mascara many times with cheaper brands that claim the same things (all-day wear, smudge-free, etc.), but I always come running back to this tube." This mascara I speak of is d.j.v beautenizer, a fiber-based formula that will. not. budge. I have a major problem with raccoon eyes, so I fork over $24 every month or so for this miracle tube.

I'm always hoping for a drugstore brand to create a less expensive version, so when I spied Rimmel's ScandalEyes Show Off mascara with "fiber formula," I was excited, and forked down the $7.49 without hesitation.

So how did it compare? The formula is very dry, but with a couple coats, my lashes really started to lengthen. The brush is a plastic applicator (pictured), with a ball at the end of the wand to lift and curl lashes. No clumping issues, and the finished effect was pretty and natural, perfect for everyday wear. As for smudging, it stayed put (but, we will see come 90 degree heat, plus humidity!).

I give Rimmel ScandalEyes Show Off a B+. A totally, formidable, cheaper -- yet not perfect -- mascara for those months when $24 breaks the bank.
