Linda Cifuentes, 17, left, spent her childhood in foster care in Colombia, and at age 13, she was adopted by a family in San Diego. Two years later, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a form of cancer. During chemotherapy, her family brought her beads and jewelry-making supplies to distract her. And she designed her heart out. Linda sold her first pair of earrings to a nurse at the hospital, who bought them for his grandmother.
In 2011, Linda Designs 4U was established, and last spring Linda met Ivanka Trump, who gave her lots of design and entrepreneurial advice. Now, 10% of the price of every piece of jewelry sold goes to making "Bags Full of Love," because Linda wants to send personalized gifts to every child and teen in foster care in the US and Colombia who are fighting cancer. (You can also donate items for the bags -- find out how.)
In addition to having a big heart, Linda has a good eye for shape and color! Some of our favorite pieces? The Raquel Green Drop Earrings,Red Linda Earrings and the Double Spain Bracelet, all just $15 each. Go shop for a cause.
