On Friday, a massive storm, Typhoon Haiyan, hit the Philippines and caused major destruction throughout the islands. Rescue efforts are ongoing; 10,000+ people are feared dead. Millions are displaced and so many are missing. It can feel overwhelming, and it is. But the world is responding with an outpouring of love and as much aid as can be mustered. That's where you come in. Here are three quick ways to help, via your phone (all donations will be added to your monthly bill):
Shelterbox delivers survival necessities to homeless and displaced families instantly after a disaster. Their large boxes include things like a big tent, clean water, blankets, cooking utensils and other vital items. Donate $10 by texting "Shelter" to 20222.
UNICEF is helping displaced families find access to shelter, clean water, food and vaccines and airlifting supplies from its Copenhagen warehouse. To give $10, text RELIEF to 864233.
World Food Programme (WFP), another United Nations organization, is sending more than 40 tons of food and working with the Filipino government to help with logistics and emergency communications systems. To donate $10, text the word AID to 27722.
