File this under: Something You Might Not Want to Know. But it's important. Checky is an iPhone and Android app that counts how often you check your phone. Warning: The numbers may frighten you.
As long as you leave the app running, it adds a count each time you unlock your phone, and it also tracks your checks by geographic location. The app isn't meant to make fun of your addiction (let's be honest: our collective addiction), its goal is to help us all wake up and get a little more zen.
Because maybe if you know that you're about to check your phone for the 50th time in three hours, you might just choose to step away from the screen. As 80s icon Ferris Bueller said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Let's all try to be a little less checky.
