I kept a pen-to-paper journal for years. Note the past tense — kept. These days, I'm lucky if I remember to write down a proper grocery list. Pathetic, I know. But I've found a simple app called Grid Journal that is helping me document my life — in a fun way. When you open it, there are eight questions waiting. You can answer one now and save the rest for later, rearrange them, customize them or make up your own questions.
Since I ride the subway most days, I take that time to jot down my end-of-the-day thoughts. Plus, it helps me focus and ignore all the people elbowing me in the ribs. Or I just write about how annoying that is. It helps.
