Who Needs Lather Anyway?

no-poo-shampooI am admittedly a wash-my-hair-every-day sort of person. Even though beauty experts and magazines tell me otherwise, if I skip a day, the result is stringy, greasy, flat hair (and not in that cool grunge-y way either). Clearly, I would never be one of those people who boasts: "I wash my hair once a week!" But I'm getting closer. Introducing, No Poo Shampoo. This kind of formula is soap-free, so it doesn't foam; it's extremely gentle and doesn't strip your hair of its natural oils. I'm a convert.

For the past month, I've been using Matrix Biolage Cleansing Conditioner ($26). Besides smelling really, really good, it contains no sulfates, parabens or silicones. Because it doesn't lather like traditional shampoo, I was skeptical that it was actually cleaning anything, but in fact, it leaves my tresses super shiny, lightweight and silky. So much that I don't even have to use any of my anti-frizz products anymore!

While I use the formula for medium hair, you might need a different one, so use this guide to figure it out. Happy no pooing!
